Microsoft 365 Copilot agent · early research

Daily Mailing List Digest Agent

Don't read 100 notifications. Read one briefing. The mailing lists you filtered into folders, summarized every morning into one email about what changed yesterday and what deserves your attention.

This isn't built yet. We're asking whether it should be.

Before building it, we want to hear from people who live with this problem, including "Microsoft already does this, here's how" and "I tried that and it didn't work."

The Problem

Inbox rules remove the noise, and your awareness goes with it

1. The emails pile up Industry newsletters, vendor and partner updates, internal announcement lists, project distribution lists, GitHub notifications. Each one matters occasionally. Together they bury your inbox.
2. You create a rule Everything from the list goes to its own folder. Your inbox is quiet again.
3. You stop knowing what's happening A decision gets made, a proposal moves forward, a deadline is announced, and you find out weeks later. Opening the folder means facing hundreds of unread messages.
4. You ask Copilot to summarize it, every morning That helps, but you have to remember to ask, retype the prompt, and it doesn't know what it told you yesterday.

The Idea

The summary shows up on its own

An agent in your Microsoft 365 tenant that:

  • reads only the folders you pick
  • runs every morning on its own
  • groups yesterday's messages by topic and ranks them by importance
  • tracks topics across days, so it says what moved, not just what was said
  • learns which topics you care about over time
  • delivers one email to your inbox

Planned approach: a Microsoft 365 Copilot agent for setup, Microsoft Graph for reading the selected folders, and email delivery. That's one of the things we're asking about below.

Sample Digest

What one morning looks like

Built by hand from real public activity on Universal-Commerce-Protocol/ucp, the open specification for AI-driven commerce, on September 30, 2026. Imagine its GitHub notifications going to a folder you never open.

Feedback

Should this exist? Tell us honestly.

Four questions, all optional. "No, Microsoft already does this" is a useful answer. About a minute.

1.What best describes you?
2.How do you keep up with the emails you've filtered into folders today?

What works, and where does it fall short?

3.If a digest like the sample arrived every morning, would you read it?
4.Want to try the beta?

Leave an email and we'll write when there's something to try. No newsletter.

Thank you.

Every response gets read. If you left an email, we'll write when there's a beta.
